Angles

ANGLES

Today my class learnt about angles, we learnt how to use a protractor and the different angles like acute which is smaller than 90°, an obtuse is bigger than 90°but smaller than 180° and a right angle is 90°. we discused  diffrent  angles and digrees. we filled in a work sheet that said to do the degrees and the what the type of angle it is (acute, obtuse, right angle).

after that we went out side to find real life angles around the school we had to find at lest one right angle one acute and one obtuse these were hard to find but me and my friend found that a right were the most conman to find as you could find it on stairs, buildings and on the play ground. after that i felt way more confident to use angels.

puzzle pyramids

 puzzle pyramids

our teacher had a task on  the contract with a pyramid made of circles the only thing she could tell us about was that it is addition and that it was a puzzle. it was a bit confusing until i started adding the starting numbers in the circles then it increased the amount of numbers which means more to add then eventually i would fill all the pyramid.

we had to do this 3 times and it was kind of fun when i got the hang of it.  the pyramids were confusing because there were only numbers in it. but then i got it and i cant wait for more.

ATHLETICS TRAINING

 ATHLETICS TRAINING

at the start of term 4 we started athletics training. personally I love athletics you get to do many things such as sprints (track), shot put , discus , long jump and high jump. I love doing all these different sports.  we are getting ready for the real school athletics day witch is in about 2 weeks.

to do a rotation we would have one year level on one activity for about 10-15 minutes then swap over to do a different activity until your year level has done them all. my favourite activity is long jump.
we continue this training about every day to keep our fitness up.

most days our class is glad to do athletics because it makes us happy. I like doing athletics its so fun, athletics is realy fun and I cant wait till the school athletics day.

planting

PLANTING

On Tuesday we were treated with a day planting, we went to Lake Gem and Lake Ngatu.  when we got there we had the privilege of seeing some Summit people who were planting many native species of trees  such as manuka, kanuka, flax(harakeke, cabbage trees, karaka, houpara and more,  we met Karen from Summit she said some rules then we got straight into it we were away planting making progress, the important  thing was we were working to help make a change in the environment as we were all working together.

We dug some holes and and gently put plants in. We had a whole hill to cover our plants with, we had to make the hole way down it. We had the brilliant view of both lakes as we were in the middle of them. Our plants were covering more and more land, when we were about finished we had morning tea by the lake and then had ice blocks. At the end of the day I definitely felt better for helping the environment maybe if we all help we could end up with a better earth.

moment in time

MOMENT IN TIME

I was getting ready as the breezy winds were zooming past, the big trees shaking like a rollacoster all i can think about is not dieing i took 5 deep breaths then swish i zoomed off faster than ever. i was trying to get a good view but all i got was a small glimpse as every bit of nature was like a swift rapid cheetah hungry for food. i could feel the air drizzling by as the taste of victory was getting stronger. i got closer to land so i pulled my parachute out, then splat i landed like a feisty rhino.

Making changes

Making changes to the environment

We have been learning about sustainability and the environment, we have heard all thees terrible things that are happening around the world  so we cant just sit there waiting for the world to end we have to make a change.

In the north Pacific ocean there is a big patch of garbage with the length of 1.6 million square kilometres called the garbage patch. this is where all your garbage ends up with all the fish that are dying by choking and swallowing it. the garbage patch is all the way from top to bottom of the sea and is the size more than twice as large as the US state of Texas. the garbage patch is a big vortex traping all the rubbish in one spot.

did you know because of global warming new Zealand was once a big contaninant of its own and was so closes to Australa but then water flooded it and it was only a bit left witch is what we have now.

no rules !

Last night we moved to level 1 that means no more rules of social distancing and no more restrictions. New Zealand  is moving to a new normal with more fun to have.
The past 21 days we have had no active cases of Covid 19. For level 1 and no cases we are leading the world we are still trying to find a cure for Covid. Rules of level 1 ... NOTHING we are back to normal with nothing to worry about.

confession

Last week we made a poem that we had to confess something you have done. We needed to use the structure that William Carlos Williams used which was what you have done, and what you were going do with it, then forgive me. So we drafted on a piece of paper then we published it on a shared document.  Something I would like to change next time is the confession and use better vocabulary. I enjoyed writing it and refreshing my memory from heaps of years ago. This is an image of my confession:
